Cake, chocolate or ice cream most sweet delights are high in sugar. Consuming large amounts of sugar can be very bad for our health and we should be aware of our daily sugar intake. Thankfully, there are natural alternatives like date syrup that are much healthier and tastier!
Date syrup beats sugar in the categories flavour, sweetness and calories. But that's not all: it also has a positive effect on our digestion and has antibacterial properties.

Kitchens in the Middle East have been cooking with date syrup for centuries, in both savoury and sweet dishes. Regular dates are immensely popular there too. In many areas of the world, date syrup is not as well known but is becoming increasingly popular.
Date syrup has been praised in oriental cuisines for centuries. It is produced from the fruit of the date palm, which is dates. The date palm originates from the Persian Gulf, but is found today in the Middle and Far East in countries like Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt.
There are a variety of date types. Sukari, Ajwa, Barhi and Anbara just to name a few. However, the undisputed queen of the dates is the Medjool, also known as the California date. The different types vary in their consistency and sweetness.
