But first of all: What is a healthy body weight?

A healthy body weight is something that concerns all of us. It plays an important role in your physical and mental well-being. But what exactly does your desired or ideal weight mean? First of all, it is important to emphasize that everyone has a unique feel-good weight. There is no universal formula or number that applies to everyone. This also means that you shouldn't base your weight goals on Instagram trends or beauty ideals. Rather, it's about feeling comfortable in your body and being healthy without having to permanently restrict or force yourself to do or leave anything.

In principle, there are various formulas that you can use to calculate your "ideal" body weight. For instance, the Body Mass Index (BMI), is one of the most popular formulas. This formula calculates the ratio of height to weight. However, the BMI neglects important components such as muscle mass or individual body composition. Athletic people are therefore often in a higher range of BMI, but this does not mean that they should lose weight. Other formulas such as Broca's formula (height minus 100 centimeters, minus 110 for women) are also not applicable to everyone.

So at the bottom line, there isn't the one right formula to calculate your ideal weight, and that's fine. It is much more important that you feel good in your body, that you live healthily and that you are healthy. Therefore, you should not focus on numbers or beauty ideals, but on a balanced diet and enough exercise to stay healthy and fit. Also make sure to respect your body for what it does for you every day: from breathing, to moving, to thinking, to digesting and so much more.
